| Auto-populate |
A
function in the Database Management table editor window. When
activated, automatically fills the first column with key-specific
information, i.e users, images, etc. Also refers to automatically
filling in end user regions based on parameters defined by the layout
developer. |

| Batch |
Multiple
users added simultaneously through User Management – accomplished by
formatting usernames, passwords and email addresses into a 3-column
comma or tab delimited file, and uploaded using the Batch Upload button. |
| Build Database Tag |
A
function available within both the fixed text editor and the image
properties window. Allows association with information contained in a
data table. |
| Bullet |
A
function available in the justification pop-up window of a text field.
Allows the developer to enter the number of characters to indent from
the left for wrapping lines of text. Used in combination with fixed
text to indent lines of type following a bulleted item. |

| Cell |
A single, block-shaped area in a database table. |
| Child Region |
The
secondary, black-bordered image region(s) within a propagated (same
name) set of image regions. Not viewable in region ordering and
comments are not viewable to the end user. Child regions are
automatically populated with the same item selected in the child's
parent region. |
| CMYK |
Four Color Printing Inks - Cyan (C) Magenta (M) Yellow (Y) and Black (K). Used in offset printing to reproduce artwork. |
| Collapse |
To close a folder or set of folders. |
| Column |
A vertical set of cells in a data table. |
| Comma Delimited |
A method of locally formatting tabled information using commas to separate columns – used for batch uploads of users. |
| Comments |
Descriptive
text entered by the developer that is used to provide end users with
directions or other information. Comments appear in an Compiler pop-up
window above the text field or choice of images available to the end
user. Comments can be entered through the properties window of both
text and image regions in the Layout Design editor. |
| Consolidated Text |
The combination of all text regions into only one text button for the end user's convenience. |
| Copy Restrictions |
A
function in User Management that forces a selected group's restrictions
and privileges onto all users and groups within that group. |
| Corrupt Image Message |
Corrupt
image messages may be displayed upon upload for one of three reasons:
1) the image was mistakenly saved as one file format but with another
extension 2) the image is not an acceptable file format , or 3) The
images were zipped on a Macintosh computer with the resource forks
included. Turn off the resource forks, re-zip and re-upload to the
server. Refer to the zip program's documentation for turning resource
forks on and off. |

A
function in Image Management allowing a selected item to be removed and
placed in a new location. This is the first part of a two part function
to move an item. The selected item will not be removed from the
original location if a new location is not specified and pasted. |

| Data Table |
A
table made up of cells placed in rows and columns, and filled with
information designed to make the end user's Compiler experience easier
and faster. Tables can be used to automatically populate image or text
regions based on specified criteria. |
| Database Management |
Toolkit window where data tables are created, edited and moved. |
| Developer |
A
user with developer-level privileges configured through User Management
– allows access to all windows of the Toolkit except User Management. |
| Development |
A
private test environment on the Agilis Media Producer server where
creation, uploading, editing and testing of layouts and images takes
place. The development window is inaccessible to users with only end
user-level privileges. Also referred to as "test". |
| Download |
The process of moving files from the Agilis Media Producer server or the Compiler to a local drive. |
| DPI |
Dots Per Inch – A resolution reference related to the line screen of a halftone. |

| End User |
A
user type configured through User Management that only allows access to
the Compiler for populating and downloading/submitting layouts. |
| EPS |
Encapsulated
Postscript - a common file format in the print industry and the
recommended format for assets used in the Print Toolkit. |
| Exit |
Closes the window. A prompt for saving open documents, if any, will appear. |
| Expand |
To open a folder or set of folders. |

| Field Name |
The name given to identify a line of type in a text region. |
| Final Product/Artwork |
The
finished, print-ready digital file of the layout which the end user can
download using an Internet browser. Three hi-resolution options are
available: 1) PDF format at 100% of layout page dimensions with font
inclusion and no image down sampling; 2) EPS format at 100% of layout
page dimensions with font inclusion, embedded images and preview for
placement in page layout applications, or 3) TIFF format at 100% of
layout page dimensions rasterized to cmyk at 300 DPI. |
| Fixed Text |
The
Toolkit provides the developer with the ability to create text fields
within a text region that can have both dynamic and non-dynamic
elements. Fixed text is text entered into a layout as a non-dynamic
portion of a text field. Fixed text may contain special characters as
well as tagged field names. |
| Folder |
A storage location for files. Can be created inside of other folders. |
| Font Usage |
Fonts
used in image files must be either included (embedded, outlined or
converted to paths) in the files, or installed on the server by the
Agilis Media Producer customer support manager. |
| Frame Region |
Created
and defined by layout developers in the Layout Design editor to place a
border around a region or around the entire layout. |
| Frame Region Tool |
The "frame" creation tool in the Layout Design editor menu bar used for creating frame regions. |
| Full |
A
text justification option that aligns all lines of text with the left
and right sides of the region. Lines of text are automatically broken
at the space between words. Characters and words are spread evenly on all except the last line of a paragraph. |
| Full Paragraph |
A
text justification option that aligns all lines of text with the left
and right sides of the region. Lines of text are automatically broken

A
button in the database table editor that opens a popup window allowing
the selection of images for association with other elements of the
table. |
| Image Management |
Toolkit window where image assets are uploaded and organized. |
| Image Region |
Created and defined by layout developers in the Layout Design editor to allow end users image options. |
| Image Region Tool |
The "photo" tool in the Layout Design editor used for creating image regions. |
| Instance |
The
Agilis Media Producer server location of all files associated with a
project, including images, layouts, data tables and user management
tools. |

Alignment
of type within a text region. Justification options in the Toolkit text
region properties window are full (word, paragraph or paragraph word),

Space between pairs of characters as built into the font. |
| Key Type |
The
trigger for determining what information will be pulled from a data
table and placed in an end user's layout - based on username,
usergroup, or image. |

The
former name for the Agilis Media Producer's print solution - A software
system for the creation, control, customization and delivery of
promotional materials to local outlets (end users) of national

| Layout, Image, Graphics, or Design Program |
QuarkXPress,
Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop or other industry-standard Windows or
Macintosh desktop design computer application. |
| Leading |
Term used for adjusting the space between lines of text. |
| Live |
"Production" window where layouts and assets can be made available to end users. |
| Load From Server |
A button in Database Management that opens a selected table stored on the server in the Database Management table editor window. |
| LPI |
Lines Per Inch - conventionally, the resolution of an image should be between 1.5 to 2 times the recommended line screen. |

A
check box in a text region's properties window allowing all text within
the fixed text editor to become user-editable in the Print Compiler -
allows all text to become "suggested" copy. No additional tags may be

A

management window, view layouts window, and approver status. |
| Multi-line Field |
A selection in a text region's properties window allowing a text field to be a multiple line entry field in the Compiler. |

| Parent Region |
The
primary, red-bordered image region(s) within a propagated (same-name)
set of image regions. Viewable in region ordering and comments are
viewable to the end user. Selections made in parent regions
automatically populate same-name child regions. |
| Password |
A code needed to access various areas of the Toolkit and Compiler. |
| Paste |
A
function in Image Management allowing a cut item to be placed in a new
location. This is the second part of a two-part function to move an
item (see "cut"). |
| PDF |
Portable Document Format File – A file type capable of encapsulating high-resolution images and font data. |
| Postscript |
A print technology developed by Adobe Systems, Inc. The standard technology for printed output from computers. |
| PPI |
Pixels Per Inch - rasterized image resolution at 100 % of placed size. |
| Preview |
A
small, thumbnail replica of an image. Also, a function in the Print
Compiler to rewrite the window after actions have been taken. |
| Print Compiler |
The web-based portal where users access, populate, submit or download layouts via an Internet browser. |
| Privilege |
An allowed action or access in the Toolkit or Compiler. |
| Production |
A
public window on the Agilis Media Producer server where completed,
approved layouts and assets can be made available to end users. Often
referred to as "live". |
| Propagation |
A
term used to describe the effect of image regions which have the same
name - allows the end user the convenience of making a single selection
to fill multiple image regions. Also, propagation of consolidated text
regions creates a single end-user button for text multiple regions in
the Compiler. |
| Proxy Server |
Network
server software/hardware combination specifically designed to act as a
gateway between an internal network and an external network connection. |

A
button in both Image Management and Layout Management. Selecting an
image and clicking the references button in Image Management will
display all layouts using the selected image. Selecting a layout in
Layout Management and clicking the references button will display all
images used in the selected layout. |
| Refresh |
Reloads from the server (showing any modifications) the current listing of files and folders for the selected management window. |
| Region |
Boxes drawn in the layout to display images, text or borders. |
| Region Name |
The name given to either a text or image region in a layout. |
| Region Nudge |
Moving an image or text region in small increments by selecting the region and using the directional arrow keys on the keyboard. |
| Region Order |
Establishes
the dominance of a propagated set of regions (text or image). By
bringing a region to the top of the region order list, the order
buttons are displayed in the Compiler can be established. |
| Rename |
A button in the Image Management window used to change the name of a folder or asset. |
| Restrictions |
Limitations placed upon a privilege. |
| Reset |
Erases any modifications that have not been applied or saved. Discards all unapplied changes and reloads settings from server. |
| RIP |
Raster
Image Processor - software or hardware or a combination of the two
capable of rendering an image or graphical information to a rastered
image format. |
| Row |
A horizontal set of cells within a data table. |

A button in the database editor that saves the table to a specified location on a local computer. |
| Save to Server |
A button in the database editor that saves the table to the development window of the server. |
| Server |
The hardware maintained by Saepio Technologies, Inc. for storing layouts and image assets for access by users. |
| Selection Tool |
The "pointer" tool in the Layout Design editor used for selecting regions for editing, consolidating, copying, etc. |
| SIT File |
"Stuffit"
file compression by Aladdin Systems - ".SIT " files use a proprietary
compression routine that is not supported by the Agilis Media Producer
server for uploading of assets. SIT files can be used for compressing
Macintosh fonts for delivery to Agilis Media Producer customer support
for installing on the server. |
| Status |
A
small window located in the lower left hand corner of all Toolkit
management windows. Used to display messages concerning the progress of
an action, or information about the selected item. Also used in
reference to the existence of assets or layouts in either the
production or development windows, or both. |

| Tab Delimited |

| Table |
A

| Test |
A

assets can be tested by developers. Also known as as "development". |
| Test-Bin/Menu |
A
browser location for displaying layouts and retrieving HREF tags to
those layouts - used by developers when building html entrance pages
for end users. Located at http://instance_name.com/test-bin/menu |
| Text Fields |
Lines
of text within a text region. Each text field may have its own
properties, including font, point size, justification, color and
options. |
| Text Region |
Created
and defined by layout developers in the Layout Design editor to give
end users dynamic text entry capabilities in an Compiler layout.
Formatting of a layout's text regions by the developer can be made from
each region's properties window. |
| Text Region Tool |
The "t" tool in the Layout Design editor used for creating text regions. |
| TIFF |
Tagged Image File Format – a rasterized image file format. |
| Toolkit |
The multi-platform graphical engine for the creation and/or management of layouts, users, data table and image assets. |
| Tracking |
Term
used to describe space between characters and words in a line of text.
Image files containing text and uploaded to the server will maintain
locally defined tracking. |
